At home sensory table

In our school the children LOVE to play in the sensory table. We decided to make one for home. Emptying out an old clothes bin, we have a long skinny "table". Our first activity was colored rice. The kids had so much fun mixing & stirring water colors into bowls of white rice. The water color dries within minutes. The next day we emptied the rice into the table. (of course we had to take pictures of the beautiful colors.

Rice- so much that can be done with this edible element. I picked up a bag of rice from one of those Mega Savings/Mega Size stores. This 50 pound bag (yep 50 pounds of rice) was only $15.00. What am i going to do with that much rice....eventually we will be making Eye Spy bottles. (that's post for another day)
