Menu

We realized that every week, we struggle to create a grocery list. We were procrastinating, not wanting to eat the same old meals every week...
I created 3 weeks of Menu's. Took around 2 hours. first, brainstormed & search for recipes. Then began placing meals into a word table format. Check menu's for balance & similar ingredients. (to help our grocery bill)

Drawer Labels

Here's a little trick that is making our morning easier. We have labeled both kids drawers. Drawers are labeled with pictures & text to describe the content. Shorts/Skirts, Pant, Short Sleeve shirts etc. This has been instrumental in allowing the kid's to expand their self help skills while at the same time satisfying my desire for wear weather appropriate clothes. Each nite we look up the weather (online or on the tv) then head into the kid's room & discuss what kind of clothes we should wear...The Girl can pick out clothes from her labeled drawers.

The labeling system has also put some consistency into how the laundry is put away in the kids room.

This is also part of early learning, literacy-pictures/words together

Here is a close up of a label (thumbnail image from clothing website, actual pants that she owns) I did this to help her understand what we were trying to achieve....

Shortcuts

Anybody that knows me, also knows i openly admit to not being the least bit interested in housekeeping. Although this year, only after 29 years, have i learned the value of some organization. one of the best tricks i have adopted, each family member has their own colored laundry basket. i wash all of C's laundry together, wash & dry- all done for the week. Saves so much time not having to sort.

Mom of 2, who me? No way! Yep it's true, I am truly the mother of 2 children, a lovely girl & a bouncy boy. Somewhere along the path, all my dreams did come true.

I never could have dreamed such a wonderful family....

My friend Jan has a 12 month old, who woke up one morning & over nite, entered the wobbly world of Toddler. In conversation, we began brainstorming toddler friendly activities.
Here is a list of some of the activities:
Painting with Water
Pudding Painting (great sensory activity- on aluminium foil)
Tissue Paper Play
Sensory Bottles
Sensory Egg Cartons
Building & Stacking
